Overgrown, tired, claustrophobic, dark. Just some of the words which came to mind when inspecting Ian’s garden for the first time. Ian wanted more of an open feel to his garden. Somewhere his dogs could play without ruining his lawn and a place to sit and relax.
Working around existing features such as a planting bed and fish pond, every square inch of this garden has been changed to create a modern, low maintenance but ultimately beautiful outdoor space.
We had to be mindful of a few things, a resting place for Ian and his family’s much loved pets and a particularly plant which had lots of sentimental value. This was another project with more personal value than material value.
We created 3 areas for seating including a main patio and a private, sheltered area screened off for shade on hot summer days. Artificial turf was a priority to ensure Ians dogs could use the garden without destroying the lawn and be maintained with minimum fuss.

On our site visit, our client Deborah told us she had just retired from a Nursing career. She also presented us with a scrap book full of her wants, needs and requirements for her dream garden. She had spent the past 2 years compiling her ideas. We knew how important this was to her.
Her garden wasn’t just going to be a patio and some new turfing, it was to be a place to use on sunny days, a retreat to use all year round. In other words a place for a relaxing retirement. Her house is an old classic Victorian house in a mining village. Lovely red brick and quite an ornate old set up in the garden.
Problem being, space was very limited due to the top level being so close to the house. So, we dug out the top tier and installed a wonderfully spacious new patio. We used some beautiful, decorative ash coloured walling in keeping with the original aesthetic to retain the top level before laying 40mm plush, dense artificial turf.
Our bespoke raised sleeper beds make Deborah’s love of planting a little easier to manage as does the porcelain paving. A simple rinse with a hose pipe to clean. Nice, simple and low maintenance’.
A once small yard has now become an open outdoor space, with room to host meals for friends, a safe space for her young niece to play in on her visits and for Deborah to spend hours planting, tending the beautiful plants and making the most of her retirement.

When Sarah approached us about transforming her garden she said she wanted a space to entertain and have parties, barbecues and make use of a brand new hot tub. Sarah also had an eye on a very special date on the horizon, her daughter's 18th birthday.
This instantly gave us all the inspiration we need. We envisioned an open, contemporary space, simplistic in design but special in detail.
Featuring Porcelain paving, charcoal edging blocks, Derbyshire decorative stone, and a completely regraded lawn, the perfect party venue was created.
Electric installation for garden lights and a hot tub mean literally, this space can be utilized 24/7 however, the icing on the cake came from the bespoke decorative fencing.
Using an ancient Japanese technique called Shou Sugi Ban, all the timber was burned, sanded, and oiled to create the amazing effect.
